Shraddh Puja in Kashi — Pitru Paksha 2026

Sacred ancestral offerings (Shraddh & Tarpan) performed with full Vedic ritual on the banks of the Ganga at Varanasi

🪔 Pitru Paksha 2026: 26 Sep – 10 Oct · Sarva Pitri Amavasya 10 Oct

What is Shraddh Puja?

Shraddh (Śrāddha) is the sacred Vedic ritual performed to honour and nourish the souls of departed ancestors (Pitru). Through offerings of Pind (rice balls), Tarpan (water libations) and Brahmin Bhojan, the ritual expresses gratitude and helps the souls of forefathers attain peace and progress towards Moksha. Performing Shraddh in Kashi (Varanasi) — the city of Lord Vishwanath — is believed to grant ancestors liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

Our Karmkand-trained pandits perform the complete Shraddh on the holy Ganga ghats and at Pishach Mochan Kund, the most revered site for ancestral rites, following the exact Vidhi prescribed in the scriptures.

Pitru Paksha 2026 — Shraddh Calendar

Pitru Paksha 2026 will begin on 26th September and end on 10th October 2026. The final day is observed as Sarva Pitri Amavasya, also known as Mahalaya Amavasya. In different regions this fortnight is also called Shraddh Paksha or Mahalaya Paksha. Shraddh is performed on the Tithi (lunar day) on which the ancestor passed away; if the Tithi is unknown, Sarva Pitri Amavasya is the day to perform it for all ancestors.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Pitru Paksha 2026? +
Pitru Paksha 2026 begins on 26th September and ends on 10th October 2026. The last day, Sarva Pitri Amavasya (Mahalaya Amavasya) on 10th October, is the most important day to perform Shraddh for all ancestors.
What is the difference between Shraddh and Pind Daan? +
Pind Daan (offering of rice balls) is one core component of the larger Shraddh ritual, which also includes Tarpan, Brahmin Bhojan and Daan. We offer both as standalone bookings and as a complete Shraddh package.
Do I need to know the exact Tithi or name of my ancestor? +
It helps, but it is not mandatory. If the Tithi is unknown, Shraddh is performed on Sarva Pitri Amavasya for all departed ancestors. Our pandits will guide you and perform the Sankalp appropriately.
Can I attend the Shraddh online from abroad? +
Yes. The complete ritual is streamed live in HD to your WhatsApp or Zoom, and you can participate in the Sankalp remotely. Photos and a video recording are shared with you afterwards.
